BRIDGETOWN – The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) Tuesday projected a 9.1 per cent gross domestic product (GDP) growth across its 19 Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) in 2022, accelerating the region’s economic recovery which started in 2021.
PARAMARIBO – A judge has sentenced the former governor of the Central Bank of Suriname (CBvS), Robert van Trikt, to eight years in jail following his conviction on several charges including money laundering.
SANTIAGO – A new report by the United Nations’ Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) says that extreme poverty in the region has risen significantly due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
ST. JOHN’S – The Antigua and Barbuda Hotel and Tourism Association (ABHTA) says interest in the island remains high even as it continues to deal with cancellations or re-bookings and concerns from travellers about the Omicron variant of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
BRIDGETOWN – The Barbados-based Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) says it is moving to create a “financing ecosystem” to support the rescue, recovery and repositioning of its Borrowing Member Countries’ (BMCs) economies to meet immediate needs and propel long-term growth and development.
